DraftKings 2017 Fantasy Baseball World Championship Recap – Denver, Colorado

This is the second time I’ve written a blog post about DraftKings Fantasy Baseball World Championship and both times I have felt the same way… ridiculous. Haha. I’m pretty sure it’s super obvious that I’m not really into sports, BUT my husband is. So here we are.

My husband is amazing at daily fantasy sports betting. He’s won multiple entries into this championship every year for the last four years, which has brought us to The Bahamas, Vegas, Toronto (read about our experience here), and now Denver! Each tournament entry includes roundtrip airfare for two, hotel stay, and entry into the championship.Β It’s incredible to see how talented my husband is and makes me a very proud wifey. πŸ™‚

DraftKings hosted us at the Grand Hyatt Denver. Like last year, the entire hotel was branded with DraftKings’ logos.

The hotel was nice, but definitely had a corporate business type of feel. There was a sophisticated lobby bar that had live music in the evenings. Some of the other amenities we really loved were the rooftop tennis courts and the spread on the breakfast buffet. We also loved the proximity of this hotel to downtown Denver. I would stay in this hotel again.

After we got settled in our room, we went down to the lobby bar for a welcome party, hosted by DraftKings, where the bar was open and the hors d’oeuvres were plentiful.

The next day, we were all treated to a behind the scenes experience at Coors Field! It was pretty awesome. We were given a private tour of the stadium that included checking out the visitor’s locker room, the media rooms, and the rooftop deck! We even got to go on the field and sit in the dugouts! To make the experience that much sweeter, we even received custom Rockies jerseys!

DraftKings had their logo on every screen inside Coors Stadium! It was pretty cool.

My husband and his brother even got to test their swings in batting practice with the Rockies’ hitting coach!

As you can imagine we worked up an appetite from all the fun we had. DraftKings hosted a post experience party across the street at View House. The beers were cold and the food was filling. View House was a great spot to end our day because they have an outdoor courtyard loaded with fun yard games like giant jenga and bags!

Here’s another fun video from DraftKings’Β Twitter account recapping this experience:

The next evening is when the 2017 Fantasy Baseball World Championship took place. This year it was on the rooftop of Tavern. It wasn’t as great of a viewing set up as previous years, but it was still over the top and really fun.

Some of the highlights were unlimited food and drinks – per usual… but they even had a lobster bar. Like what?! Yes. A lobster bar. And yes, I was so caught up in it that I forgot to take a photo. Haha.

Baseball player, Vinny Castilla, was there signing balls and photographs. He was super nice and let me have one of each. πŸ™‚

Dinger gave my husband a mohawk. Haha!

Out of 125 teams, my husband’s teams placed 19th, 66th, and 81st. He did great. I mean just getting into the Championship is a feat in itself and he had three entries! I couldn’t be more proud of him.

XO, Lauren
