Happy Valentine's Day! - Sips and Sequins

Happy Valentine’s Day, lovelies! Typically, I post about travel related content on Tuesdays and lifestyle related content on Thursdays, but since today is the day of love – love is what will be served. Haha. I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share how my husband and I met and fell in love.

My bestie Heather, creator of Dumbbellblonde.com, used to be a stylist for Trunk Club. (If you missed her Sips & Sequins take over – check it out here.) One day, she shot me a text and said, “I’m going to this guy’s house to bring him clothes because he doesn’t have time to come in to TC. If you don’t hear from me in 30 minutes, send help.” About 30 minutes later, I received a text saying, “Lauren, you HAVE to meet this guy. Can I set you up on a date?” I wasn’t expecting that! Haha, but naturally, I trusted her judgement and obliged.

Chris called me. Yes, you read that correctly. He picked up the phone, dialed my number, and asked me on a proper date. Impressive. We went on a handful of dates and then I decided that I thought he was just too quiet for me. I broke things off and that was that… or so I thought.

A few months later, my girlfriends and I planned a trip to Vegas. Little did we know, the World Series of Poker was taking place while we were there and Chris was playing in the tournaments. I “checked-in” to a nightclub on Facebook and Chris happened to see it. The next day he sent me a text saying that he was in town for the tournaments, so we decided to meet up. He met my girlfriends and I for lunch. It was at that lunch that I realized I had never gambled before and since he was a Pro, he should teach me! We went to the casino and had a blast. We have been together ever since.

So what changed? I think it was meeting Chris again in his element as friends with the pressure of a formal date completely removed. I was able to see his genuine personality shine through and if you’ve ever met Chris, you know he’s absolutely amazing – impossible not to love.
